Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated as birth anniversary of Lord Ganesh. On Ganesh Chaturthi, Lord Ganesh is worshipped as the god of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune. It is believed that Lord Ganesh was born during Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month.Currently Ganesh Chaturthi day falls in month of August in English calendar. Hinduism, also known as Sanatana Dharma, is the world's oldest living religion.Lord Ganesha is said to have come into being on Chaturthi (fourth day) of Shukla Paksha (waxing phase of the moon) in the Bhadrapada month of the Hindu calendar (August-September). Devotees celebrate this auspicious day as Ganesha Chaturthi. On this auspicious day, devotees bring home a Ganesh idol of the deity and worship him for 1/3/10 days based on their family and local tradition.
